According to different sources Infinty Ward is already in the "development" stage of cod 6 (title unknown^^)
On the Swedish news site Aftonbladet we find that :
Development of the game has started
It is confirmed that Infinity Ward, creators of Call of Duty 4 are developing Call of Duty 6 and will be released sometime in 2009. Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith confirmed this at the Activision Blizzard Analyst Day.

“In 2009, we expect Infinity Ward to deliver another [entry of] ground-breaking quality, Call of Duty 6,”
“Infinity Ward is already at work on the next installment in the franchise.”
Later this year the WWII Shooter Call of Duty 5 will be released produced by Treyarch
